How we look after your hearing aids
We service the brands we fit: Oticon, Phonak, Unitron, ReSound and Starkey. Prices depend on what your hearing aids need, so ask us for a quote.
Cleaning and check
We clean your hearing aids, check the microphones, speakers and battery contacts, and replace domes or wax guards if they need it.
Retubing
For behind-the-ear hearing aids with earmoulds, we replace hardened, yellowed or cracked tubing so sound reaches your ear clearly and the mould sits comfortably.
Batteries
We stock hearing aid batteries at the practice. Not sure which size you need? Bring an old battery or your hearing aid and we’ll check.
Repairs
If your hearing aid needs a repair we can’t do in our rooms, we send it to the manufacturer and let you know as soon as it’s back.
Signs your hearing aid needs attention
- Sound is weak, muffled or cuts in and out
- Whistling or crackling that wasn’t there before
- Batteries run flat quickly, or the hearing aid won’t charge
- Tubing has gone hard, yellow or cracked
- The dome or earmould feels loose or uncomfortable
- The hearing aid got wet, or was dropped
Often the cause is simple, such as a blocked wax guard, and can be sorted quickly.
Caring for your hearing aids at home
- Wipe them with a soft, dry cloth each day.
- Take them out before showering, swimming or using hairspray.
- Store them in their case or a drying container overnight, especially in Cape Town’s damp winters.
- If yours use disposable batteries, open the battery door at night.
- Keep them away from heat, children and pets.
- Book a professional clean regularly. Ask us how often suits your hearing aids.

We service Oticon, Phonak, Unitron, ReSound and Starkey hearing aids.
My hearing aids were fitted somewhere else. Can you help?
Yes, if they are a brand we work with. Bring them in and we’ll check what they need.
How long does a service or repair take?
We do cleaning and retubing outside appointment times, so you can leave your hearing aids with us and collect them once they’re ready. Repairs sent to the manufacturer take longer, and we’ll give you an estimate when we send them.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what your hearing aids need. Call or WhatsApp us for a quote.

Time for new hearing aids?
If your hearing aids are getting old or repairs no longer make sense, we can test your hearing and talk you through the options and prices.
