How we remove ear wax

We use curettage (gently lifting wax out with a small instrument) and ear syringing (rinsing with water). We do not offer microsuction.

1. We look first

We examine your ear canal and eardrum and show you the view on a screen, so you can see what we see.

2. Gentle removal

We choose curettage or syringing to suit your ears and the type of wax.

3. Check and advice

We check the ear again afterwards. If your hearing still feels different, we can test it at the same visit or another time.

Soft wax comes out more easily

Wax is easiest to remove when it is soft. If yours is hard, we will advise you how to soften it before your appointment.

If we find anything that needs a doctor, we refer you to the right professional, such as an ENT surgeon.

Cost

Wax removal costs R250 cash per ear.

Hearing still not right?

Blocked ears are often wax, but not always. A full hearing test shows what is going on.

We can remove wax at your home, a retirement facility or any quiet place that suits you.
