On the day of your appointment, please arrive 10 minutes earlier to complete your file and a POPI form. Thereafter we will call you in and start with your case history which is elaborate (please bring along water). We then will conduct an ear exam, the audiologist will show you on a screen what the inside of your ear looks like. After making sure your ear is healthy, we will then conduct a middle ear examination to check the middle ear pressure, compliance of the eardrum and ear canal volume of both your ears, which will confirm the presence or absence of blockages and ear infections. Thereafter, we will move along swiftly to testing your actual hearing where we will insert earplugs and headphones onto your ears and you will need to respond to the softest beep sound you hear. We will also test the softest level of speech you hear to confirm whether your hearing test is reliable. Furthermore, if necessary we may conduct an inner ear test which gives us an indication of your cochlea hair cell functioning.
